You have all the credentials and the right experiance for that job but still, nothing! Here are some very helpful tips for you after you have submitted your resume. #1. Spelling Accuracy. Make sure!!! you are very accurate in your application to your potential employer. DO NOT make spelling mistakes. This sends a black picture to your potential employer. It tells them you are illiterate! If an employer finds a spelling mistake anywhere in your resume or application, they will not read any further. Your application and resume will end up in the trash. #2.Include a cover page and or fax cover with your resume. Do not make your potential employer presume they are expected to read through the resume to see how your experience would fit their needs. #3. Do Not use form letters. If an employer sees 2 letters identical in form to each other, they will trash your resume. It sends a signal that maybe you belong to the same job finding club. #4. Do Not use fill in the blanks letters. Some people send fill in the blank letters with their information scrawled in the blank spaces. A definate NO NO. #5. Make all your document professional. Fax covers, cover letters, resumes must not have any special comments, humourous or not, on them. Do not try to inject a little levity into the day by including comments on your documents not pertinant to the information you are trying to project. This demonstrates a lack of professionalism. #7. Let them know who you are and that you have submitted a resume and you are interested in their operation. Ask questions to the nature of, how many people do you employ?, how do you conduct business? etc. You might want to contact the person responsible for hiring and let them know you are touching base and that you have submitted your resume and you are ready for any questions they might have for you. Do not be over bearing. Keep it simple! Summary: Write a proper business letter as a covering letter. Tailor it to the job specifically highlighting your skills that match with the ad for employment.
