How to Memorize Big Numbers! How to Memorize The Entire Year's Calendar! Memory secrets of Bruno Furst. By Big Boy's BBS, Denver, CO 303-458-3832 Nyuk! ---------- How to Have a Great Memory -------------------------- The Bruno Furst System ---------------------- by Big Boy Big Boy's BBS Denver, CO 303-458-3832 Would you like to be able to memorize the serial numbers of dollar bills? Have the whole year's calendar in your head? Here's the way Nyuk Nyuk! There was this memory expert called Bruno Furst, who used to appear on TV shows wowing the audience. He sold a memory course in the mail for years, with his secret system. Here is the gist of it, from memory of course Nyuk! 1 = tie 2 = noah 3 = ma 4 = rye 5 = law 6 = shoe 7 = cow 8 = ivy 9 = pa 0 = zoo That's it! Now figure it out for yourself Nyuk! OK, here's a little help. The above associations were developed from years of practice, they maximize your memory's power because they have the most associations embedded in them. You have to spend whatever time it takes to memorize the above code, then you're in business! The way Furst taught it, tie has 1 downstroke in the t, so it's 1; noah has 2 downstrokes in the n, so it's 2; ma is 3 for 3 downstrokes in the m; 4 is r because r is 4 backwards; I forget why 5 is law but it's natural and easy to remember Nyuk!; 6 is shoe because both start with s; 7 is cow because it looks like horns or a k backwards; 8 is ivy because ivy winds all around in a figure-eight; 9 is pa because 9 is a p upside down; and 0 is zoo because both start with z Nyuk! Now how do you remember a whole year's calendar in your head? Easy, just look up the date of the first Sunday in each month and memorize that. You can then deduce the whole month! (Remember: 30 days past September, April, June, and November; the rest have 31, except February which stands alone Nyuk!) Let's do 1997: January 5 Law February 2 Noah March 2 Noah April 6 Shoe May 4 Rye June 8 Ivy July 6 Shoe August 3 Ma September 7 Cow October 5 Law November 2 Noah December 7 Cow So, January is Law. To remember this think of lawyers sitting around at the Super Bowl Nyuk! Easier yet, remember that on the Patriots Super Bowl team they had Lawyer Milloy (36) and Ty Law (24), both on the defensive team! Also remember L is for losers Nyuk! Now let's say you want to know what day Jan. 23 falls on. Law is 5, so you add 18 days to Sunday, that's 2 weeks plus 4 days, so the 23rd must fall on Sunday + 4 = Wednesday Nyuk! Jan. 30 must be the last Wednesday, etc. Super Bowl Sunday was 5+21 = the 26th Nyuk! February is Noah. Imagine Noah's ark with a big Valentine's day card on it. March is also Noah. Imagine a lion and a lamb on Noah's ark, get it? Nyuk! Or, Noah's animals come marching in Nyuk! April is shoe. Imagine the Easter Bunny missing a shoe Nyuk! May is rye. Imagine a maypole in a field of rye Nyuk! Or a maid called May swigging rye whiskey Nyuk! June is ivy. Imagine getting poison ivy as soon as it warms up in June Nyuk! July is shoe. Imagine getting a hot foot on the Fourth of July Nyuk! Or one of them patriots playing Yankee Doodle, missing his shoe Nyuk! August is ma. Imagine ma trying to get you to go back to school Nyuk! September is cow. Imagine the making cheese before the winter sets in. October is law. Cops guarding kids on Halloween. The Supreme Court closes. November is Noah. There is a turkey on Noah's ark. December is cow. Imagine all them cheese balls given away on Xmas Nyuk! OK, so you spent a half hour now you have the entire 1997 calendar in your head! Let's try it. Feb. 28. Noah, I didn't know you cared! Noah = 2. 9. 16. 23. Sunday + 5 = Friday. July 4. Ouch hot foot in my shoe! Shoe = 6. First Sunday of July is the 6th, so the 4th must be Friday. August 31. Ma, I don't want to go back to school Nyuk! Ma = 3. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31. So, it's a Sunday. December 25. Oh no another cheese ball for Xmas Nyuk! Cow = 7. 7, 14, 21. Sunday + 4 = Thursday. Feb. 14. Noah = 2. 2, 9, 16. Sunday, Saturday, Friday. April Fool's Day. Where is the Easter Bunny's shoe? Nyuk! Shoe = 6. So, the 8th is Tuesday, and so is the 1st. Got it? Nyuk! But there's more. Let's say you want to memorize a long number: 38483772102 OK: ma ivy rye ivy ma cow cow noah tie zoo noah The idea is to collapse the above phrase into a phonetic code then recast it into a phrase you can't forget. For this purpose ma is condensed to m, ivy to v/f, cow to k, noah to n, tie to t/d, zoo to z or s. 1 = tie t/d 2 = noah n 3 = ma m 4 = rye r 5 = law l 6 = shoe sh/ch/j 7 = cow k/g 8 = ivy v/f 9 = pa p/b 0 = zoo z/s Notice the 10 associations cover all the consonants. Vowels are non- informative, like in written Hebrew Nyuk! So the idea is to turn the big number into consonants, add vowels, and make a phrase you can't forget! 38483772102 My fairy fame kick nuts in Nyuk! 3 84 83 77 210 2 Which would you rather remember? Nyuk! Going the other way, let's say we remember that our combination to our lock is "paradise". What number is that? 9410 Nyuk! "Blossoms into womanhood". This is a girl's phone number Nyuk! 950-302-1321 Nyuk! "Dolly Parton" Nyuk! 159412. "Green Bay Packers" Nyuk! 74299740. ---------- End of Document
