TEST TECHNIQUE PROMPT SHEETS REVISE3B.WPS Test Technique Sheet 1 How do I revise? 1. I know the things I'm not good at. I know the things I'm good at. I make a list of what I will revise. 2. I look at the sort of questions I will get. I don't panic! 3. I know what I will be tested on. 4. I write down the most important words ... and try to remember them. I review my keywords each day over the next few days. 5. I say things out loud ... and try to remember them. I use flash cards to help. I review my flash cards each day over the next few days. 6. I use books that help revision. 7. I ask my teacher for help as soon as I am in difficulty. I follow my teacher's advice. 8. I set aside time for revising. I make a timetable of when I will revise. I have somewhere to work. 9. I get my parents to help me. I get a friend to help me. 10. I understand what I have to do to get things right in each topic or subject. Test Technique Sheet 2 How do I prepare for a test? 1. I know when the test will take place. I write down the date, time and place in my homework diary. 2. I know what the test is on. 3. I know how to plan my time for revision. 4. I know how to revise. 5. I know what equipment I need. I am careful to take it with me. 6. I know how the test will be marked. 7. I know that I want to do my best! 8. I know that I must attend school on the day of the test. 9. I know that I need to care by giving time and thought to the test. 10. I know that I can ask my teacher for help. Test Technique Sheet 3 How do I do a test? 1. I know the start and finish times. I make sure I am on time. 2. I know which test I am going to be doing. 3. I feel confident that I have done my best to revise. 4. I relax - even though a few "butterflies" are necessary! 5. I bring the correct equipment, including spares. 6. I listen to instructions. I ask if I am in doubt. 7. I read the paper right through carefully. I am careful to follow instructions. 8. I plan how to use all of the time. 9. I keep concentrating on the test. I think about what questions mean and I answer the question - what am I being asked? I use common sense. 10. I try to finish all of the questions. Test Technique Sheet 4 How do I deal with stress when I'm doing tests? Before the test 1. I make sure I have prepared by using technique sheets 1, 2 and 3 carefully. 2. I tell someone how I feel. 3. I relax before the test. I remember the ways to relax I learned in Drama. An early night is also a good idea. During the test 4. I try to relax by sitting quietly before the test begins. I breathe slowly and deeply. I don't fuss. 5. I take a few seconds to relax between questions. I check that I am still sitting comfortably, and I look away from the desk to the front of the room to relax my eyes. (I am careful not to look at anyone else's work.) 6. I try not to panic if I go wrong. After the test 7. I don't worry about it, because I know I did my best
